Mr. Rick R. Olivarez joined the City of Santa Fe Springs from the law firm of Olivarez Madruga Law Organization LLP (OMLO Law) where he is the founding and Managing Partner. In this capacity, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the firm. Under his leadership, OMLO has grown into the premier minority-owned law firm in Southern California.

As the City Attorney, Mr. Olivarez advises on all aspects of municipal law including, but not limited to, the Public Records Act, public contracts, Brown Act, litigation, economic development, construction law, and ethics. Additionally, Mr. Olivarez has drafted hundreds of resolutions, ordinances, and contracts on behalf of his municipal clients.

Mr. Olivarez obtained his undergraduate B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1992 and his J.D. from the American University, Washington College of Law in 1997. He is very excited to be a part of the City staff and eager to serve the residents of Santa Fe Springs.
