Parking Warning - Red Tag Updated: Aug 26, 2025

Red Tag Information
To help maintain safe and orderly neighborhoods, Public Safety Officers and the Whittier Police Department enforce parking regulations throughout the City of Santa Fe Springs.
Under Santa Fe Springs Municipal Code (SFSMC) Section 72.04, vehicles parked on a public street for more than 72 consecutive hours may receive a parking warning. If the vehicle is not moved within the required timeframe, it may be towed in accordance with California Vehicle Code Section 22651(k).
A vehicle is considered to have remained parked for over 72 hours unless:
-
It is driven a minimum of one mile from its original location, or
-
It is moved and parked at least 300 feet away from where it was previously parked (SFSMC 72.04(c)).
Additionally, the parking or storage of recreational vehicles (RVs) or other large vehicles on public streets is prohibited unless specifically permitted. This includes any unpermitted land use activity or the use of public streets for long-term vehicle storage, which may violate zoning regulations.
Continued violations of parking or land use regulations may result in towing, citations, fines, and/or legal action.
Residents are encouraged to comply with all local regulations to avoid enforcement and help keep our community safe and well-maintained.
